Bassett has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against the Edgewood Lions at 4:45 p.m. on Friday. Bassett comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 20 points in their last seven games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
Last Friday, Bassett took a serious blow against Garey, falling 71-6. While losing is never fun, Bassett can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1354th, while Garey is ranked 561st).
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Edgewood's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They took a hard 50-31 fall against Garey.
Bassett dropped their record down to 0-7 with that defeat, which was their eighth straight at home. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 5.8 points per game. As for Edgewood, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-8.
Bassett was dealt a bruising 49-13 defeat at the hands of Edgewood when the teams last played two weeks ago. Can Bassett avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
