The Marshall Eagles can now show off 11 landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Wednesday. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 55-10 victory over South El Monte. Given Marshall's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 369th, while South El Monte is ranked 1030th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Marshall to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jolynn Abilar, who scored ten points along with six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Madelyn Degooyer, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds.
Marshall pushed their record up to 15-7 with that win, which was their seventh straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.4 points per game. As for South El Monte, their loss dropped their record down to 8-13.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Marshall will face off against Arroyo at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. South El Monte on the road again on Friday and play against Rosemead at 5:00 p.m. on January 26th.
