Each year since 2006, MaxPreps has recognized outstanding performers in high school football. America's source for high school sports continues the tradition to close out the 2021 season by naming the top player in each state. Selections are based on team success and individual excellence, in addition to local and state accolades.
Tucker McCann of
Winnacunnet (Hampton) is the 2021 MaxPreps New Hampshire High School Football Player of the Year. The 5-foot-9, 175-pound running back helped the Warriors go 11-1 and reach the Division I state championship game.
For the season, McCann rushed for 1,322 yards and 13 touchdowns. In an early October contest against Portsmouth/Oyster River, he carried 28 times for a season-high 163 yards and two scores.
A freshman running back at St. Francis Xavier University in Nova Scotia, Canada, Malcolm Bussey of
St. Paul's (Concord) was the 2020 MaxPreps New Hampshire High School Football Player of the Year.
Each state's MaxPreps Player of the Year will be considered for inclusion in the MaxPreps All-America Team, which will be released in early January.
