Basketball Recap: San Jacinto Valley Academy Takes a Loss

If San Jacinto Valley Academy was riding high fresh off their 42-15 takedown of Desert Chapel last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The San Jacinto Valley Academy Wolves took a 42-25 bruising from the Desert Christian Academy Conquerors on Wednesday. The loss continues a trend for the Wolves in their matchups with the Conquerors: they've now lost five in a row.

Despite the defeat, San Jacinto Valley Academy saw an underclassman step up: freshman Kaahliyah Lacy dropped a double-double on 16 points and 17 boards. Those 17 rebounds set a new season-high mark for Lacy. Madison Pastorius was another key player, putting up four points and seven boards.

Desert Christian Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Hannah Shaver, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 20 rebounds. Those 20 boards gave Shaver a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Mia Aceituno, who almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine rebounds.

San Jacinto Valley Academy's loss dropped their record down to 9-6. As for Desert Christian Academy, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-8.

San Jacinto Valley Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 48-35 defeat against San Jacinto Leadership Academy on the 17th. Desert Christian Academy has also already played their next game, a 55-31 win against Temecula Prep on the 17th.
