The Dublin Gaels are taking a road trip to take on the Granada Matadors at 7:15 p.m. on Friday.
Things were looking good for Dublin after they put the first points on the board on Friday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They and Livermore were almost perfectly matched up, but the Gaels suffered a 22-21 loss. The Gaels have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the defeat, Dublin got top-tier performance from Andre Armendariz, who rushed for 85 yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Granada hadn't done well against Foothill recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Matadors' defense stepped up to hand the Falcons a 28-0 shutout. The Matadors not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since November 1, 2024 (when they won 48-20).
Granada found their leader in sophomore Skyler Stuart, who rushed for 90 yards and a pair of scores on only seven carries. Stuart got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 58 yards. Granada also got a significant boost from Jaiden Machado, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 105 yards.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Granada was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 271 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in November of 2024.
One reason for the win was Granada's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for 3.5 sacks. Nico Aumua refused to say out of the backfield, picking up 1.5 sacks all by himself.
Granada is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-3 record this season.
