Ontario Christian is 10-0 against Arrowhead Christian since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. Having just played yesterday, the Ontario Christian Knights will get right back to it and host the Arrowhead Christian Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on January 19th. Ontario Christian has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 972 points over their last 12 contests.
In what's become a running theme this season, Ontario Christian gave their fans yet another huge victory on Thursday. They really took it to Buena Park for the full four quarters, racking up a 98-69 victory on the road. Given Ontario Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked tenth, while Buena Park is ranked 66th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Kaleena Smith was her usual excellent self, shooting 7-for-14 from long range and almost dropping a triple-double on 45 points, nine assists, and nine steals. That makes it eight consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Ontario Christian's points. Another player making a difference was Amanda Ajobiewe, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Arrowhead Christian unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They were outmatched by Aquinas on the road and fell 60-25. Arrowhead Christian has not had much luck with Aquinas recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Arrowhead Christian struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Aquinas pulled down 11 offensive rebounds.
Ontario Christian's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-3. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 73.67 points. As for Arrowhead Christian, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-5.
Keep an eye on the arc in Friday's game: Ontario Christian have been dynamite from deep this season, having drained 46% of their threes per game. It's a different story for Arrowhead Christian, though, as they've only made 28.9% of their threes per game this season. Given Ontario Christian's sizeable advantage in that area, Arrowhead Christian will need to find a way to close that gap.
Everything came up roses for Ontario Christian against Arrowhead Christian when the teams last played back in December of 2023 as the team secured a 88-7 win. With Ontario Christian ahead 49-2 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
