The Whitney Wildcats will head out to take on the Davis Sr. Blue Devils at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Whitney will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.
Whitney barely beat Folsom the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Wildcats put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 9-0 win on Thursday. The victory continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won seven in a row.
The result came thanks to Noah Warner's shutout, as he gave up just five hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Bryce Farris, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. Tyler Jordan was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles.
Whitney was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .394. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Davis Sr. unfortunately witnessed the end of their eight-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell just short of Rocklin by a score of 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Blue Devils have suffered since March 11th.
Davis Sr. also got a good showing from Noah Tafolla, who pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the fewest earned runs Tafolla has allowed since back in March.
On the hitting side, Davis Sr. saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Evan Lanier, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and one run.
Whitney's win bumped their record up to 13-11. As for Davis Sr., their loss dropped their record down to 17-7-1.
