While Westview's victory against Fallbrook wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Wolverines skirted past the Warriors 8-7.

Westview got a big performance out of Elijah Whelan, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave Whelan a new career-high in RBI (three). Another player making a difference was Eli Irvine, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Mission Vista ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They won by a run and slipped past Vista 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win Mission Vista has posted since March 28, 2024.
Newten Burnside spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits and racked up eight Ks. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Mission Vista is 2-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 1-10 otherwise.
At the plate, Mission Vista saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Raymond Ochylski, who went 1-for-2 with one double. Breylon Hearn also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Westview's record is now 11-4. As for Mission Vista, their record now sits at 3-11.
Westview's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's contest. The Wolverines have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.7 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Mission Vista, though, as they've been averaging only 0.7 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Westview continue to outrun the ball?
Westview took their victory against Mission Vista when the teams last played back in May of 2018 by a conclusive 15-4 score. Do the Wolverines have another victory up their sleeve, or will Mission Vista turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
