The Holtville Vikings will venture away from home to square off against the Needles Mustangs at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Holtville will be strutting in after a win while Needles will be coming in after a defeat.
On Thursday, Holtville was able to grind out a solid victory over Gila Ridge, taking the game 8-4. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Vikings.

Bradyn Terrill was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Terrill was even better at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Holtville's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is undefeated (and 4-7 when he doesn't).
In other batting news, Holtville let Nico Trujillo and Luke Chambers run wild. Trujillo got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Chambers went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most runs Trujillo has posted since back in April of 2025. George Ochoa was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
The home team had won the previous three meetings between Needles and Holtville, and Holtville kept the tradition alive. The Mustangs took an 11-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Vikings on Tuesday. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Mustangs, who until this matchup were averaging four runs allowed.
Brayden Baca made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Connor Goulet, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
Holtville now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Needles, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 9-4.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Holtville has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Needles struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Holtville was able to grind out a solid win over Needles when the teams last played on Tuesday, winning 11-8. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Vikings since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
