Basketball Recap: Winters Drops Season-High Score on Durham

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Winters). They managed a 48-44 win over the Durham Trojans on Tuesday. The victory was familiar territory for the Warriors who have now won three matches in a row.

Winters was led to victory by Jordan Tucker and Maci Dodic. Tucker posted 19 points, while Dodic scored 17 points.

When it comes to explaining why Durham lost, don't look at Payton Santos. Despite the final result, she almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds. What's more, Santos also racked up three assists, the most she's had since back in November of 2023. Another player making a difference was Kyleigh Flux, who put up ten points.

Winters pushed their record up to 10-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 23.0 points per game. As for Durham, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 10-5.

Winters has already played their next contest, a 41-32 defeat against Woodland Christian on the 15th. As for Durham, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 35-10 victory against Paradise on the 17th.
