Basketball Recap: Janiya Sawyer Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Saint Mary's

Salesian College Preparatory won the last time they faced Saint Mary and things went their way on Friday too. The Salesian College Preparatory Pride took down the Saint Mary's Panthers 68-50. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Pride.

Salesian College Preparatory's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Janiya Sawyer, who posted 15 points and five steals. Sawyer is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Vanessa Parilla was another key player, putting up 19 points.

Salesian College Preparatory has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season. As for Saint Mary's, with the defeat, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 14-12.

Salesian College Preparatory has already played their next game (against Richmond), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Saint Mary's will head out to take on Pinole Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
