The Poway Titans won the last time they faced the San Marcos Knights, and things went their way on Wednesday too. Poway took down San Marcos 58-43. Given Poway's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 93rd, while San Marcos is ranked 378th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Katelyn Johnson, who scored 30 points. Mackenzie Parsons was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Despite the loss, San Marcos still got an impressive performance from Kyra Quinn, who scored 13 points along with three blocks and two steals. Quinn is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Wiedemann, who scored 16 points along with two blocks.
Poway is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. As for San Marcos, they now have a losing record at 11-12.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Poway will take on Del Norte at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Del Norte focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 on Wednesday. As for San Marcos, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Rancho Bernardo at 5:30 p.m. on January 26th. Rancho Bernardo is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.
