The Port Allegany Gators posted their closest win yet this season on Friday. They had just enough and edged Otto-Eldred out 42-39. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Port Allegany also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2023.
Port Allegany was led to victory by Kayleigha Dowell and Ella Moses. Dowell scored 11 points along with five rebounds and four steals, while Moses scored 16 points along with five steals and two blocks. Moses is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Peyton Gordon, who scored six points.
Otto-Eldred lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Carrie Drummond, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Ayla Van Scoter, who scored 11 points along with two steals.
Port Allegany's victory bumped their record up to 10-4. As for Otto-Eldred, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Port Allegany will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Coudersport at 7:30 p.m. on January 19th. As for Otto-Eldred, they will square off against Northern Potter at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
