It was a good run, but the Neshannock Lancers unfortunately witnessed the end of their eight-game winning streak on Thursday. They took a 67-60 hit to the loss column at the hands of Ellwood City. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game last Thursday (58), Neshannock still had to take the loss.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Ellwood City to victory, but perhaps none more so than Elsie Sturgeon, who scored 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Delaney Sturgeon, who scored 16 points.
Neshannock's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-5. As for Ellwood City, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season.
Neshannock will head out on the road to challenge Laurel at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Laurel will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings (they are ranked 566th, while Neshannock is ranked 125th). As for Ellwood City, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Riverside at 6:00 p.m. Riverside is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
