The Alameda Hornets will venture away from home to square off against the Berkeley Yellowjackets at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Alameda will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
On Monday, Alameda got the win against Piedmont by a conclusive 12-1. Considering the Hornets have won nine games by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Sam Berger made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one walk in eight consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Bryson Edwards and Noah Nonato did most of the damage at the plate: Edwards went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base, while Nonato went 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Those two hits gave Nonato a new career-high. Trevor Kapowich also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Alameda always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .607. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Berkeley waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They walked away with a 7-4 victory over the Dragons.
Seddrick Henderson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four runs (all of which were unearned) on one hit and racked up 11 Ks.
On the hitting side, Berkeley let Akanni Owodunni and Enrique Sotelo run wild. Owodunni went 2-for-4 with one home run and two runs, while Sotelo went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Miles Mino, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Alameda's record now sits at 14-11. As for Berkeley, their record is now 19-4-1.
