The Girard Yellowjackets will head out on the road to square off against the North East Grape Pickers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Girard is looking to tack on another W to their 13-game streak on the road.
Girard stacked an eighth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Tuesday. They blew past Iroquois, posting a 77-42 victory on the road. Given Girard's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 96th, while Iroquois is ranked 425th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, North East strolled past Seneca with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 58-43.
Girard's victory bumped their record up to 14-1. As for North East, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Girard against North East in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 as the squad secured a 58-25 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Girard since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
