The Creekside Christian Academy Cougars are taking a road trip to square off against Rock Springs Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Creekside Christian Academy's tournament run continued when they took on Horizon Christian Academy on Friday. Creekside Christian Academy was the clear victors by a 10-1 margin over Horizon Christian Academy. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Cougars.
Carter Mcginnis made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in February. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.
In other batting news, Brady Mccadden and Trey Gatlin did most of the damage at the plate: Mccadden scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances, while Gatlin scored two runs while going 3-for-3. What's more, Mccadden posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. Drake Watkins also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Rock Springs Christian Academy, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They put the hurt on Fullington Academy with a sharp 15-5 victory on Friday. The high-scoring effort was just what Rock Springs Christian Academy needed considering they were shut out in their previous match.
Like Creekside Christian Academy, Rock Springs Christian Academy also got a great game from a two-way player: Liam Buice. He struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off one hit. Buice was even better at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Brandt Washington was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Josh McDaniel was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.
Rock Springs Christian Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .618. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Rock Springs Christian Academy now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Creekside Christian Academy, their record is now 9-4.
Creekside Christian Academy came out on top in a nail-biter against Rock Springs Christian Academy in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, sneaking past 4-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for Creekside Christian Academy since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
