The Vacaville Christian Falcons will face off against the Foresthill Wildfires at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Vacaville Christian is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.4 runs per game this season.
Vanden hit Vacaville Christian with a four-run second inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Falcons came up short against the Vikings, falling 9-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Falcons have suffered since March 7th.
Zachary Romeo was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs.
Meanwhile, with a playoff win on the line, Foresthill rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They blew past the Eagles 23-4. The victory was nothing new for the Wildfires as they're now sitting on seven straight.
Eli Selvester made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has become a key player for Foresthill: the team is undefeated when he allows at most one hit, but 6-7 otherwise. Selvester was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, four runs, and three RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Hunter Byrum was incredible, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 2.1 runs per game. David Silveira was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Foresthill always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .610. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .531 or higher in three consecutive games.
Foresthill's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-7. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Vacaville Christian, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-6.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Vacaville Christian has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Foresthill struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
