The El Primero Lobos will head out on the road to challenge the Mid-Peninsula Dragons at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. El Primero is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
Last Thursday, El Primero didn't have too much trouble with East Palo Alto Academy at home as they won 59-45.
El Primero's success was spearheaded by the efforts of JOSH CHAVEZ, who scored 17 points along with nine assists and five steals, and RICARDO GARCIA, who almost dropped a triple-double on 17 points, 28 rebounds, and nine blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points GARCIA has scored all season. Another player making a difference was GUSTAVO MALVAES, who scored nine points.
Meanwhile, Mid-Peninsula's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their sixth straight loss. They fell to North Valley Baptist 57-52. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Mid-Peninsula in their matchups with North Valley Baptist: they've now lost four in a row.
El Primero's win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-13. As for Mid-Peninsula, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-11.
Everything went El Primero's way against Mid-Peninsula in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 as El Primero made off with a 56-36 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for El Primero since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
