Winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to rack up eight more assists than your opponent, a fact Meadowbrook Christian proved on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Mount Calvary Christian and snuck past 44-41. The win made it back-to-back wins for Meadowbrook Christian.
Meadowbrook Christian was led to victory by Kailey Devlin and Madalyn Fasnacht. Devlin scored 16 points along with four steals, while Fasnacht scored 14 points along with six steals and five assists. Fasnacht hasn't dropped below two steals for ten straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma George, who scored seven points.
Several Chargers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Lilah Martin, who scored six points along with seven steals and six rebounds. Martin has been hot recently, having posted five or more steals the last three times she's played. Kylie Masters was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with five steals.
Meadowbrook Christian's victory was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 18-1. As for Mount Calvary Christian, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Meadowbrook Christian won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the at 6:00 p.m. on February 2nd. Both teams have allowed few points on average, (Juniata Christian: 29.1, the : 25.5) so any points scored will be well earned. As for Mount Calvary Christian, they will be playing at home against the Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Conestoga Christian will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings (they are ranked 699th, while the Chargers are ranked 263rd).
