Chadron extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping them down to 11-10. They took a 7-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Gering Bulldogs. Unfortunately, that's the fourth time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, with their most recent defeat being a 12-4 loss last Saturday.
Jae Gooder was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. Gooder was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Jacey Turman was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI.
As for Gering, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games.
On Gering's side, Brodee Luce spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on eight hits. Luce has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Rylee Luce, who went 1-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Danae Savala, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Coming up, Chadron will face off against Gothenburg on Thursday. The Cardinals' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Swedes have averaged an impressive 6.3 runs per game this season. As for Gering, they will take on North Platte on Thursday.
