The Staples Wreckers will head out on the road to face off against the Danbury Hatters at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Staples is looking to tack on another W to their five-game streak on the road.
Last Friday, Staples was able to grind out a solid win over Stamford, taking the game 21-10. Given Staples' advantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut football rankings (they are ranked tenth, while Stamford is ranked 41st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Caleb Smith, who rushed for 215 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.7 yards per carry.
Meanwhile, Danbury didn't have too much trouble with Westhill on the road on Saturday as they won 38-20. The win made it back-to-back wins for Danbury.
John Bardin had a dynamite game for Danbury, rushing for 126 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries, while also picking up 85 receiving yards. Brayden Boswell made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Their wins bumped Staples to 5-1 and Danbury to 3-3.
Everything went Staples' way against Danbury in their previous matchup back in October of 2022 as Staples made off with a 42-21 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Staples since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
