There's no place like home for Cheyenne Mountain, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Coronado Cougars on Thursday by a score of 12-2 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). Considering the Red-Tailed Hawks have won 11 matchups by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Addison Gutschick made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits (and only one walk). Gutschick was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Cheyenne Mountain got a massive performance out of Rylie Hanna, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Cheyenne Mountain always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .515. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Coronado only posted an OBP of .308.
Cheyenne Mountain has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.2 runs over those games. As for Coronado, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-16.
As of now, neither Cheyenne Mountain nor the Cougars have any future games scheduled.
