Even though the Carmel Christian Cougars scored an imposing 57 points on Friday, the Covenant Day Lions still came out on top. Covenant Day sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 59-57 win over Carmel Christian. For Covenant Day, this counts as revenge for the 96-63 defeat Carmel Christian walked away with the last time they faced one another back in November of 2021.
Michael Marcus Jr. continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 20 points and 10 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Covenant Day's points. Another player making a difference was Patrick Penosky, who scored 9 points.
Covenant Day has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 4-4 record this season. As for Carmel Christian, they now have a losing record at 5-6.
Covenant Day's road trip will continue as they head out to face United Faith Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on December 15th. As for Carmel Christian, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Moravian Prep at 1:30 p.m. on December 9th. Moravian Prep is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
