Central Crossing is 0-7 against the Wildcats since December of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Central Crossing Comets will head out on the road to face off against the Newark Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. Central Crossing is no doubt hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses.
On Wednesday, Central Crossing was able to grind out a solid win over the Vikings, taking the game 47-39. The victory was just what Central Crossing needed coming off of a 63-36 loss in their prior match.
Central Crossing got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Madison Whitney out in front who dropped a double-double on ten points and 13 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Whitney has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Cheyenne Taylor, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Newark's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight defeat. They took a 59-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of Reynoldsburg. Newark has struggled against the Raiders recently, as their matchup on Friday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
Central Crossing's victory bumped their record up to 7-13. As for Newark, their loss dropped their record down to 7-11.
Central Crossing was dealt a bruising 75-23 defeat at the hands of the Wildcats in their previous meeting back in January. The matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Central Crossing was down 51-11.
