Last Thursday, Westlake Charter was able to grind out a solid victory over John Adams Academy, taking the game 33-21. The win made it back-to-back wins for Westlake Charter.
Westlake Charter's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tahod, who scored 11 points along with seven steals. Tahod is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Chigozie Igwegbe was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, John Adams Academy stacked an 11th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 57-6 victory over Leroy Greene Academy at home. The win was nothing new for John Adams Academy as they're now sitting on three straight.
Schwartz continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, almost dropping a triple-double on 21 points, nine assists, and 11 steals. That makes it seven consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of John Adams Academy's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Bianca Taguinod, who scored 14 points along with four steals.
Westlake Charter's win bumped their record up to 10-6. As for John Adams Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season.
Tuesday's matchup is shaping up to be a scrappy contest: Westlake Charter have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 36.1 rebounds per game. It's a different story for John Adams Academy, though, as they've been averaging only 33.4 rebounds per game. Given Westlake Charter's sizeable advantage in that area, John Adams Academy will need to find a way to close that gap.
