Baseball Recap: Hopewell-Loudon Wins Going Away Against Woodmore

Hopewell-Loudon barely beat Woodmore the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Chieftains blew past the Wildcats 11-3 on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Chieftains, who have now won nine games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Austin Smith spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on four hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Jack Colatruglio was a standout: he went 4-for-5 with four runs, two stolen bases, and one RBI. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Thomas Daniel was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

Hopewell-Loudon was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .447. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Woodmore only posted a batting average of .154.

Hopewell-Loudon's win bumped their record up to 16-5. As for Woodmore, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 15-9 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hopewell-Loudon will head out to face off against Arcadia at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Woodmore, they will venture away from home to take on Lake at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
