The Union Area Scotties will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Eden Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Union Area has nine straight wins, Eden Christian Academy has six straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
In what's become a running theme this season, Union Area gave their fans yet another huge win last Monday. They blew past Bishop Canevin, posting a 53-19 win on the road. Given Union Area's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 108th, while Bishop Canevin is ranked 416th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Eden Christian Academy came up short against Sewickley Academy on Saturday and fell 47-35.
Despite their defeat, Eden Christian Academy saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Emmie Smith, who scored eight points along with five rebounds and two steals, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Allie Emswiler, who scored six points along with ten rebounds.
Union Area has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. As for Eden Christian Academy, their loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-12.
Everything came up roses for Union Area against Eden Christian Academy in their previous meeting back in January as the squad secured a 52-20 win. Does Union Area have another victory up their sleeve, or will Eden Christian Academy turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
