Laguna Beach has gone a perfect 5-0 against Irvine recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Breakers will head out to face off against the Vaqueros at 3:30 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Laguna Beach barely beat University the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Breakers blew past the Trojans 12-3 on Friday. Considering the Breakers have won nine games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Dylan Yencho and Aaron Crosby made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Yencho tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Crosby struck out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. Yencho has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in 11 consecutive appearances. At bat, Yencho went 2-for-4 with four runs and two doubles, while Crosby went 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. Those two runs gave Crosby a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jacob Wicker, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Bear Ward was another key player, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one double.
Laguna Beach was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as University only posted a batting average of .185.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Irvine). They were the clear victors by a 21-4 margin over St. Margaret's on Thursday. The Vaqueros haven't had any issues with the Tartans recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
Roshan Patel made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over four innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Irvine is 6-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 6-11 otherwise. Patel was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, Ethan Kim was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. Another player making a difference was Caleb Rogers, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run.
The victory got Irvine back to even at 12-12. As for Laguna Beach, their record is now 16-8.
Laguna Beach was able to grind out a solid win over Irvine in their previous meeting back in March of 2025, winning 4-0. Do the Breakers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Vaqueros turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
