MaxPreps small schools high school baseball rankings

Verdigris of Oklahoma takes over the top spot from West of Texas.

Verdigris, the top-ranked Division 3A school in Oklahoma by the MaxPreps Computer Rankings presented by the Army National Guard, has taken over the No. 1 spot in the MaxPreps small schools national baseball rankings.

The Cardinals, who won four straight state championships between 2011 and 2014, are 27-2 on the season and won their first 22 games. Verdigris was ranked No. 2 in last month's small school rankings behind West (Texas), which dropped to No. 7.

Lafayette Central Catholic, which had not started its season when the last rankings were released, has started the year 20-0 and is ranked No. 2. Harding Academy moves up from No. 5 to No. 3. Red Oak and Central Heights round out the top five.

The small school rankings are based on the MaxPreps Computer Rankings presented by the Army National Guard. Small schools are those that play in state enrollment divisions that generally have fewer than 1,000 students.
