The biggest upset of the week belonged to Watertown-Mayer, who took down 48th ranked Tri-City United [Montgomery-Lonsdale/Le Center], 27-20. Jesse Bushman ran for 135 yards during the win.
The Royals scaled the state rankings by moving to 102 from 137 this week, the biggest jump in Minnesota River. Watertown-Mayer climbed the ranks as a result of defeating the Titans 27-20.
Cole Buttenhoff put up the best numbers in passing as Mayer Lutheran defeated Jordan. He finished with 11 completions for 142 yards and 1 touchdown. Buttenhoff's favorite target this week was Anthony Gruenhagen, who caught 4 passes for 59 yards.
Mayer Lutheran's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Crusaders feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Buttenhoff has thrown for 715 yards and 8 touchdowns this season, while Gruenhagen has 29 catches for 498 yards.
One of the league's premier quarterbacks will face off with its top pass rusher when the Crusaders and Craig Johnson's team face off next week.
