Baseball Recap: Cordova Falls Short of Armijo in the Playoffs

Cordova and Armijo squared off in some playoff action on Monday, but Cordova had to settle for second. They fell 7-4 to the Royals.

Levi Nyberg was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and five unearned) runs off six hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Nyberg wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Bro Ahlstrom, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Cordova's defeat dropped their record down to 14-14-1. As for Armijo, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games. That's provided a massive bump to their 19-8-1 record this season.

Cordova does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Armijo, they are taking a road trip to take on Jesuit at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Marauders will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Royals surely won't give up without a fight.
