Delta and Montezuma-Cortez are an even 5-5 against one another since September of 2020, but likely not for long. Delta will host Montezuma-Cortez at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Delta is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.7 runs per game this season.
Delta will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Thursday, then bounced right back against Basalt on Monday. The Panthers blew past the Longhorns 16-1. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matchups by six runs or more this season.

Delta got a massive performance out of Jaidyn Robinson, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. Those four RBI gave Robinson a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Olivia Hines, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Montezuma-Cortez was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 13-4 to Rifle.
Montezuma-Cortez saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Raegan Veach, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.
Delta is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.9 runs over those games. As for Montezuma-Cortez, their loss dropped their record down to 6-15.
Montezuma-Cortez's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Delta has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.1 hits per game. It's a different story for Montezuma-Cortez, though, as they've been averaging 8.9 hits. Given Delta's sizable advantage in that area, Montezuma-Cortez will need to find a way to close that gap.
Delta took their victory against Montezuma-Cortez when the teams last played back in August by a conclusive 24-14 score. Will Delta repeat their success, or does Montezuma-Cortez has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
