The North Branch Vikings had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21.2 points), and they went ahead and made it seven on Wednesday. They blew past Cloquet, posting a 44-7 win on the road. The result was nothing new for North Branch, who have now won five contests by 20 points or more so far this season.
North Branch got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Carter Drill out in front who rushed for 175 yards and a touchdown on only 11 carries. North Branch also got a significant boost from Lavonte Fisher, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 89 yards.
North Branch's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 7-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 41.5 points per game. As for Cloquet, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-5.
North Branch does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Cloquet will head out on the road to face off against Grand Rapids at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
