Pierce waltzed into their game on Saturday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They put the hurt on the Polk County Slammers with a sharp 11-4 win. The Bluejays might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by six runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Evelyn Skrdla, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Athena Bretschneider was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Pierce was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Pierce's victory bumped their record up to 7-4. As for Polk County, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.

Looking ahead, Pierce is taking a road trip to challenge Boone Central at 10:45 a.m. on Saturday. The Cardinals will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last. As for Polk County, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Centura at 10:45 a.m. on Saturday. The Slammers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Centurions have averaged an impressive 7.3 runs per game this season.
