The Williamson Marauders will head out to take on the Geneva Panthers at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Williamson's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They blew past Franklin 30-0. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Marauders.
Myles Wurtz made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Williamson is undefeated when he allows at most two earned runs, but 4-8 otherwise. Wurtz was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Williamson let Caiden Watson and David DeFisher run wild. Watson went a perfect 4-for-4 with five runs, three RBI, and one stolen base, while DeFisher went a perfect 3-for-3 with five runs, five RBI, and one double. Williamson is 2-1 when DeFisher posts three or more hits, but 5-7 otherwise. Emerson Bobowski was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
Williamson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .773. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Geneva, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. Everything went their way against Midlakes on Saturday as they made off with an 8-1 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Panthers have posted against the Screaming Eagles since May 10, 2023.
The team relied heavily on Anthony Delgago-Nunez, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Alex Dorrington, who went 1-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Williamson's record is now 7-8. As for Geneva, their record now sits at 12-4.
Williamson came up short against Geneva in their previous matchup back in April of 2023, falling 8-4. Can the Marauders avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
