Van Nuys is on a six-game streak of home wins, while Kennedy is on a six-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Van Nuys Wolves will take on the Kennedy Cougars at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Van Nuys posted their biggest win yet this season on Thursday. They blew past Canoga Park, posting a 60-10 victory on the road. Given Van Nuys' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 223rd, while Canoga Park is ranked 1195th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Kennedy took their contest on the road on Friday with ease, bagging a 68-15 victory over Canoga Park. With that victory, Kennedy brought their scoring average up to 50.8 points per game.
Leilani Richards and Andreya Villa were among the main playmakers for Kennedy as the former scored 15 points and the latter scored 12 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Another player making a difference was Katherine Franco, who scored nine points along with three steals.
Van Nuys' win bumped their record up to 13-1. As for Kennedy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-4 record this season.
Van Nuys didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Kennedy in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, but they still walked away with a 36-32 victory. Will Van Nuys repeat their success, or does Kennedy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
