The Nuview Bridge Knights will challenge the Rancho Verde Mustangs at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
As a matter of fact, Nuview Bridge put up the most runs they have all season on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Desert Christian Academy an 11-0 shutout. With that victory, the Knights brought their scoring average up to 6.1 runs per game.
The result came thanks to Johnny Aguiluz's shutout, as he gave up just two hits and racked up 15 Ks.
At the plate, Carson Lagor was a standout: he went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Joshy Rodriguez, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Meanwhile, Rancho Verde posted their closest win since March 11, 2025 on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Hillcrest, sneaking past 11-10. Considering the Mustangs' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
Janson Moreno made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and not a single walk). Moreno was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Rancho Verde got a massive performance out of Caden Coppola, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI Coppola has posted since back in February of 2025. Another player making a difference was Julian Dominguez, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double.
Rancho Verde was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .406. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Nuview Bridge has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-2-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. Rancho Verde's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Nuview Bridge has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.4 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Rancho Verde struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
