After flying high against the St. Joseph Cardinals back in December of 2023, the Hawaii Prep Ka Makani came back down to earth. Hawaii Prep's rough 55-29 defeat to Pahoa on Thursday might stick with them for a while. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Hawaii Prep has scored all season.
Pahoa can attribute much of their success to Hunter Paio, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Paio has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyran Canete, who scored 14 points along with two steals.
Hawaii Prep's defeat was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-5. As for Pahoa, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-2.
Hawaii Prep will be playing in front of their home fans against Kamehameha Hawai'i at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. Kamehameha Hawai'i has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 526 points over their last eight games. As for Pahoa, they will head out on the road to face off against Honoka'a at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday.
