Cornerstone Prep Academy dropped down to 3-7 on Thursday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Praise Academy Lions by a score of 7-6. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lions this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-1 back in March.
Madden Ruplin was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Evan Dichiara was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
As for Praise Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-2 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.9 runs over those games.
On Praise Academy's side, Cap Cheshire made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out 11 batters over 5.2 innings while giving up four earned runs off five hits. Cheshire was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, Praise Academy let Hunter Ivey and Chase Hayward run wild. Ivey went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI, while Hayward went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Brandon Ivey, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Looking ahead, Cornerstone Prep Academy will face off against Unity Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Praise Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
