Stanton County was dealt a 72-44 loss at the hands of Lakin on Friday. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Stanton County in their matchups with Lakin: they've now lost six in a row.
Despite the defeat, Stanton County saw an underclassman step up: Gerardo Robles scored eight points along with three steals and two blocks. That's the first time this season that Robles posted two or more blocks. Juan Aleman was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with seven rebounds.
Stanton County struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Stanton County's defeat dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Lakin, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-2.
Stanton County's road trip will continue as they head out to face Southwestern Heights at 7:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Southwestern Heights will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Kansas Rankings (they are ranked 274th, while Stanton County is ranked 80th). Lakin won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Sublette at 7:30 p.m. on January 20th.
