Rosemead hasn't had much luck against Marshall recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Panthers will be playing at home against the Eagles at 3:30 p.m. Rosemead is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Rosemead and Arroyo meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Wednesday. The Panthers lost 11-1 to the Knights.
Rosemead saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sebastian Genie, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one double.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Marshall, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. They won by a run and slipped past Gabrielino 4-3. Marshall hasn't had any issues with Gabrielino recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.
Elijah Lain was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Marshall is 4-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 1-10 otherwise. Lain was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
Marshall's victory bumped their record up to 5-11. As for Rosemead, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-10.
Marshall's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Rosemead has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.8 hits per game. It's a different story for Marshall, though, as they've been averaging 9.5 hits. Given Rosemead's sizable advantage in that area, the Eagles will need to find a way to close that gap.
Rosemead came up short against Marshall when the teams last played back in April of 2025, falling 5-0. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
