The Monrovia Wildcats will face off against the Righetti Warriors at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. Monrovia is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.8 runs per game this season.
The home team had won the previous six meetings between Monrovia and San Marino, and San Marino kept the tradition alive. The Wildcats fell just short of the Titans by a score of 6-4 on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Wildcats have suffered since April 24, 2025.
Troy Grise made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and fired off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-3. Braydon Blackmore was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one double.
Meanwhile, Righetti made easy work of Cabrillo on Wednesday and carried off an 8-1 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Warriors have posted against the Conquistadores since April 20, 2022.
Righetti also got a great performance from Israel Rocha as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over six innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave Rocha a new career-high.
On the hitting side, Graysen Cole was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kamron Walker, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Monrovia's defeat was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-2. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the losses came by an average of only 1.5 runs. As for Righetti, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Monrovia has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Righetti struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
