It was a good run, but The Chapin Huskies unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They fell 21-14 to Canutillo. Despite 55 more yards than Canutillo, Chapin couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.
Despite the defeat, Chapin had strong showings from Daveon Singleton, who rushed for 145 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.5 yards per carry, and Carey Wade, who rushed for 160 yards on only 12 carries. Wade's longest rush was for an incredible 90 yards.
Jeremiah Knox was the offensive standout of the match as he rushed for 26 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 152 yards and a touchdown while completing 80% of his passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Eduardo Carrillo, who picked up 84 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Chapin's defeat dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Canutillo, their victory was their third straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 6-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chapin will take on El Paso at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. El Paso will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each match than the last. As for Canutillo, they will be playing at home against Jefferson at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Jefferson comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
