Make it ten blowout wins for the Marshall Eagles this season. They claimed a resounding 53-22 win over Rosemead at home. Given Marshall's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 358th, while Rosemead is ranked 787th), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Marshall had a senior duo take command as Jolynn Abilar scored 18 points along with six rebounds and three steals and Destiny Ihiaso scored 11 points along with three steals and two blocks. That's the first time this season that Abilar scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaitlan Sakuma, who scored two points along with four steals.
Marshall pushed their record up to 14-7 with that win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.7 points per game. As for Rosemead, their loss dropped their record down to 10-12.
Marshall will be playing at home against South El Monte at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Rosemead, they will head out on the road to take on Arroyo at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
