Oceana has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against the Immaculate Conception Spartans at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Immaculate Conception took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Oceana, who comes in off a win.
Last Friday, Oceana didn't have too much trouble with Galileo at home as they won 60-44. The victory was just what Oceana needed coming off of a 80-32 loss in their prior match.
Oceana can attribute much of their success to Alamea Lewis, who scored 18 points, and Allie Pon, who scored 21 points. Those 21 points set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Kelani Cheng, who scored seven points.
Meanwhile, Immaculate Conception's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fifth straight loss. They received a tough blow as they fell 38-23 to South San Francisco. Immaculate Conception has not had much luck with South San Francisco recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Oceana has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. As for Immaculate Conception, their defeat was their fourth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 2-8.
Oceana suffered a grim 50-26 defeat to Immaculate Conception when the teams last played back in December of 2021. Can Oceana avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
