Neumann-Goretti is 10-0 against Conwell-Egan Catholic since February of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The pair will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 18th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Neumann-Goretti is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last seven games.
Last Sunday, Neumann-Goretti strolled past Imhotep Charter with points to spare, taking the game 51-36. Given Neumann-Goretti's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked ninth, while Imhotep Charter is ranked 175th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Neumann-Goretti's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Carryn Easley, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Another player making a difference was Reginna Baker, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Conwell-Egan Catholic's four-game losing streak came to an end on Monday. They came out on top against Archbishop Ryan by a score of 50-41.
Lily Milewski was her usual excellent self, scoring 16 points along with eight rebounds and five steals. She continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooke Mcfadden, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds.
Neumann-Goretti's record is now 9-3. Conwell-Egan Catholic's record is now 5-7.
Neumann-Goretti barely slipped by Conwell-Egan Catholic in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, winning 57-56. The rematch might be a little tougher for Neumann-Goretti since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
