The Castilleja Gators fought the good fight in their overtime match against the Sacred Heart Prep Gators on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 43-42 to the Gators. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Castilleja in their matchups with Sacred Heart Prep: they've now lost nine in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Castilleja lost, one person who can't be blamed is Antonia Vlahos. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 23 points and 14 rebounds. That was a full 54.8% of Castilleja's points, marking the tenth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Chloe Chiang, who scored six points.
Castilleja's defeat dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Sacred Heart Prep, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 8-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Castilleja will take on Harker at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Harker is coming into the contest hot, having won their last three games. As for Sacred Heart Prep, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Menlo School at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Menlo School focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Tuesday.
