The St. Thomas Academy Cadets extended their postseason success on Saturday against the Owatonna Huskies. They took down the Huskies 46-28. The win was familiar territory for St. Thomas Academy who now have three in a row.
It was another big night for Savion Hart, who rushed for 271 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 9.7 yards per carry. Hart's longest rush was for an incredible 71 yards. St. Thomas Academy also got help from Chase Young who showed off his sure hands for 94 receiving yards.
St. Thomas Academy's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB four times. Teddy Knapp was especially locked on to Owatonna's QB and sacked him three times.
Despite the loss, Owatonna had strong showings from Jacob Ginskey, who threw for 423 yards and three touchdowns while completing 71.8% of his passes, and Nolan Ginskey, who picked up 194 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Ginskey hasn't dropped below 100 receiving yards for three straight games. Caleb Hullopeter also helped out as he racked up 168 receiving yards.
St. Thomas Academy's victory bumped their record up to 9-2. As for Owatonna, their defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 8-3.
St. Thomas Academy will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Alexandria at 2:00 p.m. on November 17th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Minnesota (Alexandria is ranked third, while St. Thomas Academy is ranked eighth). Owatonna does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
