Given Whittier Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 185th, while Saddleback is ranked 765th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Whittier Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Zoe Sanborn, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds. Ariana Botello was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with 4 steals.
Whittier Christian's victory bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Saddleback, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-6.
Whittier Christian will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Bellflower at 7:30 p.m. As for Saddleback, they will head out on the road to face off against Rancho Alamitos at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Rancho Alamitos comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 23 points in their last three games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
